In the morning of Tuesday July 8, 2025, Al-Khwarizmi college/ Baghdad University, a thesis defense of the candidate Zainab Yousif Ismael from the Mechatronics Engineering Department was defended under the title (investigation of hydraulic control in Synchronized Hydraulic Cylinders Motion Using On/off valves) and a degree with merit was awarded to the candidate for her research findings
The study highlighted the importance of synchronized hydraulic systems since they play a crucial role in achieving accuracy and efficiency in cylinder motion under different operating conditions.
The research also highlighted technical challenges related to conventional control valves (3/4), especially those with low power efficiency and poor control of sudden flow changes.
The thesis aimed to compare synchronization system performance using conventional and proportional valves in terms of dynamic response, power consumption, and general performance.
The results have shown that conventional valves can achieve efficiency equivalent to their proportional counterparts if they’re supported by an advanced control algorithm; however, proportional valves still outperform in dynamic environments due to their ability to consistently regulate pressure, fast response, and power saving.
The study also recommended the need for adopting leading-edge techniques such as adaptive control, AI algorithms, and neural networks in order to enhance synchronization accuracy, especially beyond changing loads and the nonlinearity nature of systems.
