About Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering

Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering is an integrated system of scientific departments that provides the community with distinguished engineering staff in modern engineering disciplines. It is focused on educating the next generation of engineers to prepare societal leaders with strong scientific and technical skills combined with an ethical and moral outlook to impact academia, business and government or private sector.  Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering was founded  within the University of Baghdad  faculties to transmit  knowledge through innovative education for facilitating life-long learning and translate knowledge through innovation and entrepreneurship, in addition to apply knowledge to benefit the community

Scientific Departments

Biochemical engineering

The department was created within the departments of Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad in the academic year (2002-2003) because of its great importance in keeping pace with global industrial development and the country’s need for this specialty.

Information and Communications Engineering

The Department of Information and Communications Engineering was established at the beginning of the 1997-1998 academic year and has been joined Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering since 2002-2003.

Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering was established in 1997 within the the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad. Then it joined Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering in 2002 based on the urgent need for the health sector in Iraq for supplying the health sector with graduates holding a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering sciences.

Mechatronics Engineering

The Department of Mechatronics Engineering was created in the academic year (1997-1998) within the departments of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad. It has been joined to the Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering since 2002-2003.

Automated Manufacturing Engineering

The Department of Automated Manufacturing Engineering was established in the academic year 2002-2003 Based on the recommendation of the Council of the College of Engineering Al-Khwarizmi, the Council of the University of Baghdad and the Sectoral Committee for Engineering Specializations, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has approved. It is a four year full time study program ; The graduate gets a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing process engineering sciences.
