On Wednesday , October 7th ,2026 AL-Khwarizmi college of engineering participated in the 6th international conference on geotechnical engineering that was organized by Baghdad university , represented by the department of Reconstruction and Projects – presidency of the university of Baghdad, this event was held in collaboration with Iraqi Scientific Geotechnical Society (ISGS) , Al Khwarizmi College of engineering , Koya University , Komar University of science and technology , Moscow state university of Civil Engineering , and other co-organizers from within and outside Iraq.
This conference attended by the president of Baghdad university Professor Dr. Alaa Abdelhasan Atiya Hasan, the dean of Al-Khwarizmi college of engineering Professor Dr. Wadoud Taher Muhammad, and an elite group of academics and specialized researchers.
The conference included recent research and scientific developments in the field of geotechnical engineering as well as several related disciplines such as Civil and mechanical engineering, Architectural engineering, water resources and environmental engineering, petroleum engineering.
The conference aimed to promote academic collaboration, experiences exchange among research and academic institutions as well as open new avenues for innovations and scientific research, which contributes to finding engineering solutions to challenges as well as supports infrastructure projects and sustainable development in Iraq.
This event is part of the university`s endeavor to promote academic and scientific partnerships and to activate the role of scientific research in serving society, meeting the requirements of developments and engineering advancement in Iraq.
Also, this event contributes to the promotion of sustainable development goals, such as SDG4 (Quality education), SDG9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure) , and SDG17 ( Partnerships for the goals).
