Capstone Projects of Biomedical Engineering Students Win Top Prize for Intelligent Healthcare Projects at the 1st AI Forum.
In a significant achievement that adds to the academic success records of Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering, two students (Zeenah Haider Sadiq & Yasmin Raid Kamil) from Biomedical Engineering department under the supervision of Assistant professor Dr. Noor Kamal won top prize in the intelligent healthcare project as part of the forum proceedings that held on April ,23rd ,2026.
This unique honor was awarded to their project titled “Acoustic Analysis of Cough Sounds for Detection of COVID-19”, that aims to perform early detection of COVID-19 infection through analysis of sound recordings using advanced AI algorithms. This approach provides fast, cost- effective, and non-surgical diagnostic tool while delivering accurate results in a short time.
The project reflects the growing trend of employing AI technologies to serve healthcare sectors by developing innovative solutions, which contribute to improving diagnostic efficiency and promoting intelligent healthcare.
The two students were honored by the dean of the Artificial Intelligence college in the presence of the college deans participating in the forum. this recognition reflects appreciation for their remarkable efforts and innovations in presenting a project that integrates the modern techniques with healthcare applications to serve society. This achievement promotes the culture of innovation and contributes to technological and scientific development.
