On November 5, 2025, the Continuous Learning Unit at Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering ,in collaboration with the College of Engineering, organized a workshop titled “Infection Prevention within educational institutions and Labs.”, presented by assistant lecturer Nabaa Kasim Saadullah, aiming to promote health awareness for students and staff and ensure a secure educational environment.
The workshop aimed at introducing participants to infection causes and transferring methods, committing to personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hand hygiene, safe use of chemical and biological materials, as well as proper disposal of medical and laboratory waste.
Furthermore, the workshop included demonstrative presentations and practical applications on disinfections and sterilization methods, emphasizing the importance of committing to health instructions issued by official authorities to keep individuals safe inside educational institutions.
This workshop is organized to spread the culture of health awareness and infection prevention inside the educational environment, promoting preventative behaviors to reduce health risks in workplace, in addition to training staff on safety measurement procedures in laboratories by introducing them to approaches of preventing infection transmission.
The worship is mainly targeted faculty members, administrative and technical staff, as well as college students such as biology science, medicine, engineering, in which representing essential step toward solidifying occupational health and safety practices in academic institutions.
