The Department of Biochemical Engineering at Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering organized a workshop focused on electrochemical methods in treating wastewater. Presented by Prof. Dr. Ali Hussein Abbar, the workshop took place on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in the college’s graduate studies hall, with faculty members in attendance.
The workshop provided an overview of various electrochemical methods employed in treating wastewater from industrial and medical sectors. Techniques such as electrochemical deposition for heavy metal removal, electrochemical concentration, anodic oxidation, and electrophoresis were discussed in detail, along with their advantages, efficiency factors, and potential obstacles, supported by practical examples.
Emphasizing the environmental friendliness, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of electrochemical methods compared to traditional approaches, the workshop recommended investing in these innovative techniques for liquid waste treatment. Attendees gained valuable insights into the application of electrochemical methods, contributing to advancements in wastewater treatment technology and sustainable environmental practices.
