{"id":7014,"date":"2026-09-02T15:03:31","date_gmt":"2026-09-02T15:03:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.kecbu.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=7014"},"modified":"2026-09-02T15:10:51","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T15:10:51","slug":"a-master-defense-on-wastewater-treatment-using-bacterial-enzymes-copy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.kecbu.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=7014","title":{"rendered":"A master defense on Biphasic system: A Green Approach to selective Enzyme Recovery and Purification"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]On Thursday, August, 27 ,2026 Al-Khwarizmi College of engineering held a master thesis defense in the field of Biochemical engineering titled \u201cBiphasic system: A Green Approach to selective Enzyme Recovery and Purification\u201d, for the master candidate (Noor Saad Fadhil) at the thesis defense hall, where a degree of passing with merit was awarded for her research findings.<\/p>\n<p>The committee is composed of the following members:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professor Dr. Muhammad Abd atiyah Al-Saraj, Chair<\/li>\n<li>Assistant Professor Dr. Nagham ubayed Karim, Examiner<\/li>\n<li>Assistant Professor Dr. Atheer Muhammad Ghalib, Examiner<\/li>\n<li>Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Walid Hameed, Supervisor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;7015&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]This study deals with the extraction and recovery of invertase enzyme from tomato using an aqueous two-phase system as a mild and effective method for enzyme separation. Several systems composed of polyethylene glycol with citrate and phosphate salts were compared to select the most efficient system. The effects of temperature, pH, polymer concentration, salt concentration, and polymer molecular weight on recovery efficiency were studied.<\/p>\n<p>The results showed that lower temperature helped maintain enzyme stability and improved its separation between the two phases. pH also had a clear effect on the enzyme charge and its interactions with the system components, which affected its partitioning and recovery efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>The best system was polyethylene glycol 4000 with sodium citrate, which achieved a recovery of 89.8% and a partition coefficient of 8.8. The extraction conditions were statistically optimized to obtain the best combination of factors affecting enzyme recovery.<\/p>\n<p>After selecting the best system, the effects of sodium chloride and magnesium chloride were studied to increase recovery efficiency.
