{"id":6684,"date":"2026-03-09T06:25:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T06:25:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.kecbu.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=6684"},"modified":"2026-03-09T06:25:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T06:25:11","slug":"al-khwarizmi-college-of-engineering-held-a-master-defense-on-designing-and-manufacturing-of-below-knee-prosthesis-limb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.kecbu.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=6684","title":{"rendered":"Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering held a master defense on Designing and Manufacturing of Below-knee Prosthesis Limb"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18px;\">On Monday, March, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> ,2026 Al-Khwarizmi College of engineering held a master thesis defense in the field of Automated manufacturing engineering titled \u201c<strong>Design and Manufacture of Below-knee Prosthesis Limb<\/strong>\u201d, for the master candidate (Daniah Saleem Jwair) at the thesis defense hall, where a degree of passing with distinction was awarded for her research findings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18px;\">The committee is composed of the following members:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18px;\">Professor Dr. Kadhim Kamil Resen, Chair<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18px;\">Assistant Professor Dr. Thamar Harith Ali, Examiner<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18px;\">Lecturer Dr. Marwan Ali Salman, Examiner<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18px;\">Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Zidan Muhammad, Supervisor<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18px;\">Assistant Professor Dr. Huda Hatem Dalif, Supervisor<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18px;\">This study aims to design and fabricate a custom transtibial prosthetic socket using CAD\/CAM and 3D printing. The socket was 3D scanned, modeled, printed in PETG, and evaluated through gait analysis and FEA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18px;\">Results showed good gait symmetry (84.7%) and low stress under a 600 N load, confirming structural safety and the effectiveness of the digital manufacturing approach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18px;\">\u00a0What mentioned above can be concluded as digital manufacturing and 3D printing reduce health risks and improve efficiency. CAD\/CAM with 3D scanning enables accurate, fast, and comfortable socket design. The lightweight PETG 3D-printed socket showed good gait symmetry (84.7%), and FEA confirmed its stability and safety under a 600 N load.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 18px;\">\u00a0Hence, future work should be focusing on long-term evaluation of 3D-printed sockets, developing of advanced materials (e.g., fiber-reinforced composites), and studying the effect of printing parameters on socket performance.
