{"id":5891,"date":"2025-07-07T04:59:16","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T04:59:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.kecbu.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5891"},"modified":"2025-07-14T05:06:15","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T05:06:15","slug":"safer-and-more-efficient-driving-a-thesis-defense-entitled-steer-by-wire-for-luxury-vehicles-was-defended-at-al-khwarizmi-college-of-engineering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.kecbu.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5891","title":{"rendered":"Safer and more efficient driving:  A thesis defense entitled \u201cSteer by wire\u201d for luxury vehicles was defended at Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype';font-size: 17px\">As part of Al-Khwarizmi College&#8217;s ongoing efforts to support innovations in smart transportation and future vehicle systems, a thesis defense was held on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, for student Taher Sajit Taher in the Mechatronic Engineering Department, and a degree of pass with merit was awarded to the candidate for his research findings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype';font-size: 17px\">\u00a0It demonstrated the development of a system for driving a vehicle using steer-by-wire technology with advanced smart control strategies. The thesis aimed to design an integrated mathematical model for modern steering systems that considers replacing traditional mechanical systems by eliminating physical linkages between the steering wheel and wheels, which helps reduce overall weight, lower power consumption, and enhance safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype';font-size: 17px\">However, adopting such technology faces significant challenges related to fluctuations, nonlinearity, and external disturbances. To address these challenges, the researcher developed two advanced models of smart control:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype';font-size: 17px\">\u00a0The first is model predictive control (MPC), improved using particle swarm optimization (PSO), which enhanced tracking accuracy and response speed. The second is PID supported by a neural network of the RBF type, which demonstrated a flexible ability to handle uncertainties and disturbances without prior training.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype';font-size: 17px\">The simulation results confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed solutions, with stability analysis via Lyapunov functions showing that the system maintains stable and reliable performance under various operating conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype';font-size: 17px\">\u00a0Additionally, the intelligent control strategies employed outperformed traditional counterparts in efficiency, accuracy, and robustness under different operation conditions.
