Vision
The biomedical engineering department aims to be a distinguished scientific center in the fields of medical technologies and engineering principles applied in medicine, a pioneer in the development of medical engineering education and scientific research, and an active contributor to supporting the healthcare sector and serving the community both locally and globally.
Mission
The biomedical engineering department aims to develop highly skilled engineers who specialize in biomedical engineering, prosthetics, and medical devices. The department achieves this goal by continuously enhancing academic curricula to meet the demands of the labor market. The department provides comprehensive hands-on training and conducts scientific research to support the healthcare industry. By aligning with technological advancements, the department reinforces its commitment to producing skilled biomedical engineers capable of innovation and effective competition in the field.
Objectives
1. Prepare biomedical engineers with specialized expertise in prosthetics, motion analysis, and biomechanics by fostering collaboration with physicians and healthcare teams to enhance clinical practice.
2. Develop graduates who possess a comprehensive understanding of the design and operation of medical devices used in hospitals and healthcare facilities, and who demonstrate practical skills in developing, maintaining, and training users on these technologies.
3. Educate graduates to practice engineering with integrity, follow the ethical standards, ensure patient safety, and consider the impact on society and environment.
4. Inspire graduates to engage in innovative problem-solving and contribute to the development of practical biomedical solutions that advance healthcare technologies and improve community well-being.
5. Graduate engineers who are academically and professionally qualified to pursue
postgraduate studies in biomedical engineering field both in Iraq and
internationally.
