Under the ongoing efforts of Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering at Baghdad University to support scientific research and foster international academic collaboration, Assistant Professor Dr. Heba Muhammad Fadhil, a lecturer from the Communication and Information Engineering Department, participated in the 12th International Scientific Conference titled “The Impact of AI and Cybersecurity on Human Life,” held from July 5 to 6, 2025. The proceedings were organized by the International Council of Scientists and Researchers, Kingdom of Morocco, in collaboration with Ajloun National University.
During the conference, Dr. Heba presented a research paper titled (Grad Guide: Intelligent Application to Assist 12th Grade Students in Filling out Iraqi universities Application Forms)
The research demonstrated the development of an interactive AI application technology to aid students in the process of filling out electronic admission forms of Iraqi Universities by enhancing the accuracy of data entry and reducing common mistakes, which in turn contributes to aiding students in their decisive academic stage.
This scientific participation embodied the commitment of the college in encouraging faculty members to engage in international proceedings and employing cutting-edge technologies to serve society and the education field in alignment with the college’s vision of fostering intelligent education and academic innovation.


Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering took a significant step forward in collaboration with the Iraqi Ministry of Health/Health Insurance Authority by organizing a consultative contract meeting. The meeting, chaired by Mr. Farid Kazem Sidra, Director of the Legal, Administrative, and Financial Directorate, represented the Ministry of Health, while Assistant Professor Dr. Nibras Hussein, Director of the Consulting Office at Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering, led the college's delegation.
The contract aims to prepare a comprehensive guide to requests for proposals (RFP), outlining system requirements, estimating costs, and establishing criteria for comparing companies. Additionally, Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering will provide support throughout the process of selecting the appropriate company. The meeting, endorsed by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Wadud Taher Muhammad, and attended by Administrative Assistant Professor Dr. Fayez Fawzi Mustafa and Professor Muhannad Kazem Saber, aimed to bolster the college's standing in scientific and academic spheres.
Both parties expressed their commitment to cooperation and emphasized the importance of concerted efforts to advance work in the public interest. This collaborative endeavor marks a significant milestone in leveraging academic expertise to address real-world challenges and enhance healthcare services in Iraq.




The Department of Biochemical Engineering at Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering organized a scientific symposium on modern developments and trends in chemical engineering. Held on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Al-Khwarizmi Central Hall, the symposium featured esteemed speakers including Prof. Dr. Alaa Karim Muhammad, Dr. Ali Hussein Abbar, and Prof. Dr. Saleh Abdul-Jabbar Saleh from Al-Qadisiyah University's College of Engineering.
During the symposium, Prof. Dr. Alaa Karim emphasized the crucial role of biochemical engineering in addressing industrial challenges and the importance of research and development in finding effective solutions for the Iraqi industry. Dr. Ali Hussein Abbar discussed advancements in bioelectrochemical systems and their application in treating pollution generated by the oil industry, highlighting efficient and economically feasible approaches.
Prof. Dr. Saleh Abdul-Jabbar Saleh shed light on the pharmaceutical industry's contribution to societal welfare and the role of biochemical engineers in its development through research and innovation. Key recommendations from the symposium included supporting the national industry, fostering collaboration between the industrial sector and Iraqi universities, and promoting interdisciplinary cooperation among engineers to enhance the country's overall development.
The symposium served as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, emphasizing the importance of research-driven solutions in advancing the field of chemical engineering and contributing to the progress of the Iraqi industry.




Under the patronage of the Honorable Dean of the College of Engineering, Al-Khwarizmi, the Women’s Empowerment Coordination Committee, in collaboration with the Media Unit, organized a workshop titled "Energy Support and Emission Reduction." The event commenced with an opening speech by Marwa Ahmed Najaf, Health Promotion Officer from the Karada Health Center, in cooperation with the Media and Relations Unit at the college.
The workshop focused on strategies to bolster energy support and reduce emissions, aligning with initiatives launched by various ministries, including the Ministry of Environment, Electricity, and Oil. With support from the Iraqi Women’s Empowerment Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the workshop aimed to address crucial environmental concerns and promote sustainable practices.
Attended by professors, employees of Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering, as well as Rusafa health officials and employees, the workshop served as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. Held on Monday, April 17, 2023, at ten in the morning in the College Council Hall, the event underscored the college's commitment to advancing environmental sustainability and empowering women in the field of engineering.




Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering, in conjunction with Gilgamesh National University, took part in the International Conference on Renewable Energies, sponsored by the American Institute (IEEE) and the Tunisian University of Sfax from December 16-18, 2023. The event featured participation from 22 countries, bringing together global scientific and academic experts. Iraq's representation included a collaborative scientific research presentation titled "Utilizing the controlled hydropower system to harness the collected water in the drainage sinks for power generation."
This research, a result of collaboration between the University of Baghdad, Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering, and Gilgamesh Private University, was presented by Prof. Dr. Fayez Fawzi Mustafa and Eng. Omar Hussein Alwan from the Department of Automated Manufacturing Engineering, along with Prof. Dr. Amir Hussein Murad, the Dean of the Technical College at Gilgamesh National University. The study focused on a hydroelectric system integrated into rainwater drainage networks, employing pipes designed to store water. The system, equipped with gates and sensors, aims to control and reuse rainwater for generating electrical energy.
The research garnered approval from conference participants through discussions, scientific interventions, and proposals related to the presented study. This signifies the college's commitment to showcasing its scientific and research endeavors on the international stage, providing insights into the latest developments in scientific research.


The Department of Biochemical Engineering at Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering organized a workshop on sustainable energy, led by Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Sarraj, in the Graduate Studies Hall. The event, attended by faculty members and department heads, aimed to explore innovative projects and initiatives in the field of sustainable energy.
The workshop featured an introduction to sustainable energies and highlighted several topics for future projects:
- Designing and implementing underground energy exchanges with solar energy in the winter and studying several variables on them.
- Designing and implementing underground energy exchanges with cooling towers in the summer and studying several variables on them.
- Designing coolers that operate on ground energy, whether for air or water.
One notable project discussed was the salt removal project using solar energy, a pioneering initiative implemented in collaboration with Al-Mustaqbal University College. This project leverages ground energy to cool or heat air and water, marking a significant advancement in Iraq's sustainable energy efforts.
The overarching goal of these workshops and projects is to foster scientific research and innovation among graduate students, encouraging the development of advanced ideas that contribute to the industrial and economic sectors of the country. By showcasing the achievements of professors and academic researchers, Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering aims to inspire further advancements in sustainable energy technologies.


The Department of Biochemical Engineering at Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering organized a workshop focused on electrochemical methods in treating wastewater. Presented by Prof. Dr. Ali Hussein Abbar, the workshop took place on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in the college's graduate studies hall, with faculty members in attendance.
The workshop provided an overview of various electrochemical methods employed in treating wastewater from industrial and medical sectors. Techniques such as electrochemical deposition for heavy metal removal, electrochemical concentration, anodic oxidation, and electrophoresis were discussed in detail, along with their advantages, efficiency factors, and potential obstacles, supported by practical examples.
Emphasizing the environmental friendliness, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of electrochemical methods compared to traditional approaches, the workshop recommended investing in these innovative techniques for liquid waste treatment. Attendees gained valuable insights into the application of electrochemical methods, contributing to advancements in wastewater treatment technology and sustainable environmental practices.


In collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit and the Educational and Psychological Guidance Unit, the Biochemical Engineering Department at Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering organized a workshop titled "Self-Development for a Promising Future" on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. The workshop, held in the graduate studies discussion hall, was delivered by Prof. Dr. Alaa Karim Muhammad, Head of the Biochemical Engineering Department, and Assist.Lec. Marwa Jassim Karim, a teaching member in the department.
The workshop aimed to educate participants about the concept of self-development, methods of self-communication, reasons for self-development, types of self-development, and areas of focus for personal growth. Through interactive sessions, attendees explored the significance of self-development in enhancing skills, behavior, knowledge, and awareness. The workshop also emphasized the role of self-development in improving research abilities, critical thinking skills, and crisis management capabilities.
In conclusion, the workshop highlighted the continuous nature of self-development, likening it to a flowing river. Participants were reminded of the importance of ongoing personal growth at all stages of life. The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the vital role that self-development plays in shaping a promising future for individuals, underscoring its significance in navigating life's challenges and maximizing one's potential.


The Department of Biochemical Engineering at Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering organized a scientific symposium on Monday, April 3, 2022, focusing on the topic of probiotics and their impact on biological balance. Led by Assist.Lec. Zahraa Hamid Muhammad, a lecturer in the department, the symposium convened professors and teachers to delve into the role of beneficial bacteria in maintaining digestive health.
Probiotics, known as beneficial bacteria found in the human intestines, were at the center of discussion during the workshop. Attendees learned about various sources of probiotics, including dairy products, kefir, green bananas, dark chocolate, and sauerkraut, as well as different forms of consumption such as powder, capsules, gelatin, or drops.
The symposium highlighted the significant contributions of probiotics to restoring the vital balance of the digestive system, addressing issues such as constipation, indigestion, and irritable bowel problems. Furthermore, attendees gained insights into how probiotics can strengthen the body's immunity, enhance lactose digestion, and facilitate the breakdown of difficult fats in the body. This scientific exchange underscores the importance of understanding probiotics in promoting overall health and well-being.




Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering, led by Dean Professor Dr. Wadud Taher Muhammad, visited Dar Al-Huda and Al-Raja Institute to extend support. The delegation, including professors and staff, immersed themselves in the realities of the children, gaining insight into the services provided. The visit aimed to strengthen ties between the college and these institutions, emphasizing collaboration for humanitarian causes.
The delegation learned about the goals of Dar Al-Huda and Al-Raja Institute, dedicated to serving individuals with special needs. Beyond material assistance, the visit fostered enhanced collaboration between the college and the institutes. By establishing a humanitarian committee, the college showcases its commitment to making a positive impact beyond academics.
The gesture reflects the college's broader commitment to social responsibility, highlighting the power of collective action in creating an inclusive society. As the college continues its mission of academic excellence, it remains dedicated to serving the community and uplifting the lives of those in need.
