On Monday, November 4, 2024, the Communication and Information Engineering Department organized a symposium entitled “(information technology and job markets: future skills) under the supervision of Professor Wadoud Taher Muhammed, dean of the college, with the attendance of elite faculty members and students and honorable guests. The symposium aimed to raise students’ awareness about the importance required to meet exchanged job markets and the roles of information technology in shaping future careers.
The symposium began with introductory videos about the Department of Communication and Information Engineering. Participants then stated the department’s essential objectives and remarkable academic programs, which aim to make students eligible for this advanced field.
The symposium included a valuable lecture by the faculty, Mr. Tariq Imad Ali, on “Information Technology: Future Skills.” He discussed the technological information the world is currently witnessing and the necessity of acquiring new skills to excel in future job markets.
Also, Reem Farouq, a student in the third stage presented a presentation about her experience in developing personal skills and the importance of time management to achieve professional and academic success; while another student named Talib Hussein talked about his experience in self-development and overcoming academic challenges to achieve his goals.
The symposium ended with the participation of Mr. Abdullah Awadh, senior, who shared his rich experience in attending world conferences and its role in sharpening his personality and scientific skills. Furthermore, two alumni (Misk Sabah and Dalya Asil) shared their success stories after graduation emphasizing the importance of continuing education and self-development in keeping pace with job market demands.
At the end, a representative of Huawei company Rand Amer presented a special offer of their services to support students in the field of information technology and communication. The company shed light on free training courses for students allowing them to explore up-to-date techniques and developments in the field of artificial intelligence, the internet, and advanced networking.
Also, Huawei announced technical programs that allow students to examine their capabilities in competing environments giving them chances to excel and develop. The company encouraged students to take advantage of these programs which included practical training and accredited certificates to boost their resumes and improve their chances in job markets.
Moreover, Huawei expressed its commitment to developing students’ skills and enhancing their eligibility in addition to emphasizing that these services are part of its strategies to promote collaboration between academics and the practical side.
The symposium was well-delivered by attendees, and inspiring them by its motivational content, and composed interactive platform to promote collaboration between the college and technology sector, striving to build a generation that enables to strongly face future challenges.
