The Department of Biochemical Engineering held a scientific symposium on recent developments and trends in chemical engineering on Thursday, 6-4-2023 at Al-Khwarizmi Central Hall. Prof. Dr . Alaa Karim, Prof.
Dr. Ali Hussein Abbar and Prof. Dr. Saleh Abdul-Jabbar Saleh from the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University, have attended the symposium. Prof. Dr. Alaa Karim discussed the importance of biochemical engineering in industrial applications and the role of the engineer in finding effective solutions facing the Iraqi industry through research and development. In addition, the department enforces a good foundation to graduating engineers who are familiar with the required scientific knowledge. While Prof. Dr. Ali Hussein Abbar dealt with the most important developments that took place on bioelectrochemical systems and their use in treating pollution resulting from the oil industries in efficient and economically feasible ways. Finally, Prof. Dr. Saleh Abdul-Jabbar Saleh explained the role of the pharmaceutical industry in community service and the role of the biochemical engineer in
developing this industry in Iraq through research and development. The most important outcomes of the symposium are to support the national industry, encourage cooperation between the industrial sector and Iraqi universities to find appropriate solutions to the problems of the Iraqi industry. Also, involving the biochemical engineer in
joint cooperation with the rest of the other engineering branches in order to develop the country’s reality for the better.
